NAACP Wisconsin State Conference

Whereas, one of the goals of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is that American families are deserving of safe, decent, affordable housing; and,
Whereas, HUD’s 2014 – 2018 Strategic Plan has established goals to address issues presented by crises of foreclosure and rebuilding communities caused by the 2008 Great Recession; and,
Whereas, HUD’s 2014-2018 Strategic Plan establishes priorities and goals for meeting the needs for quality, affordable rental housing; and,
Whereas, the Wisconsin Consolidated Plan has made an assessment of Wisconsin housing stock and has identified serious barriers to housing all Wisconsin citizens; and,
Whereas, the NAACP public policy priorities established that we are committed to provide universal, decent, and affordable housing; for African American and all citizens and,
Whereas, the NAACP-Wisconsin Conference of Branches recognizes that a sufficient supply of safe, decent, affordable housing is not attainable by a large segment of African American, communities of color and a growing segment of all Wisconsin citizens;
Be it finally resolved, the NAACP-Wisconsin Conference of Branches will establish a 2017 NAACP-Wisconsin strategic workplan that acknowledges housing challenges and barriers confronted by Wisconsin citizens, develop strategies and action steps to ameliorate these housing issues within the state of Wisconsin.
